How to make a personalized Christmas book with ChatGPT
A personalized Christmas book is a story, recipe collection or set of memories you write with ChatGPT and Inkbind prints as an 8.5-inch square book, $55 for a hardcover or $45 for a softcover, shipping included. To have it by Christmas, order by December 1 with standard shipping or by December 10 with express.
A store-bought personalized book swaps a name into someone else’s story. A custom Christmas book you write yourself can have your real tree in it, the dog who steals ornaments and the cousin who always shows up late.
Ideas for a Christmas book
- A Christmas story starring your child, set in your own house on Christmas Eve.
- A family Christmas recipe book with the cookies, the stuffing and the one dish nobody else is allowed to make.
- Grandparents’ Christmas memories, told in their words: what the holidays looked like when they were kids.
- A year-in-review book with a page or two per month, covering the trip, the lost tooth, the move and the new baby.
Write it with ChatGPT
Give ChatGPT the real details first and ask for a short draft. For a children’s story, a prompt like this works:
“Write a Christmas Eve story for a 5-year-old called Mateo. He lives in Denver with his sister Ava and a beagle named Biscuit, who keeps knocking ornaments off the tree. Santa’s sleigh gets stuck in the snow on their street, and Mateo and Biscuit help dig it out. 14 short pages, two or three sentences each.”
Read the draft out loud and change whatever doesn’t sound like your family. For recipes or memories, ask ChatGPT to interview you or a grandparent one question at a time, then write up each answer in that person’s words. Tell it not to add anything they didn’t say, and check that it listened.
Add pictures
You can ask ChatGPT for one picture per page. Describe the main character in the same words every time (“a boy with a red knit hat and a missing front tooth”) so he looks like himself on every page. Or use your own photos instead: last year’s tree, the kids in matching pajamas, grandpa carving the ham. Upload them in the editor next to the right page. Inkbind checks the size of each picture and tells you if one is too small to print sharply.
Turn it into a book
With the Inkbind app connected, ask for the book in the same ChatGPT conversation. Or copy the text and paste it on our start page. Either way you get a book of 32 pages or more, with a title page, a dedication and your pictures, and you see every page before you pay. You pay by card on our site through Stripe. Nothing is charged inside ChatGPT.
Send it straight to the grandparents
You don’t have to ship the book to yourself first. Enter the grandparents’ address at checkout, and Lulu prints the book close to where they live, so it doesn’t cross an ocean to reach them. Extra copies of the same book to the same address are $32 for a hardcover and $25 for a softcover. That helps when the family gathers at one house and every household wants to take a copy home.
Will it arrive in time for Christmas?
Printing and standard delivery take 10–18 business days. Order by December 1 for standard delivery before Christmas, or by December 10 with express shipping. Those dates hold in a normal year, but they don’t leave much slack. Carriers slow down in December, and nobody controls what the mail does in the last week before the holiday. If you can order earlier, do.
If a copy arrives damaged or misprinted, email us a photo within 30 days of delivery and we reprint it for free. A reprint takes another 10–18 business days, which can land after Christmas if you order late. We delete your book’s files 90 days after delivery, so order any extra copies before then.
Write the dedication last
Put the year in the dedication. Ten years from now, “Christmas 2026, the year Biscuit ate the gingerbread house” will mean more to your kids than the title.
