How to make a personalised Christmas book with ChatGPT
A personalised Christmas book is a story, recipe collection or set of memories you write with ChatGPT and we print as a 21.6 cm square book, £42 in hardback or £34 in paperback, delivered. To have it for Christmas, order by 3 December for standard delivery or by 12 December with express.
Most personalised books from shops swap a name into a story someone else wrote. Yours can have your kitchen in it, your dog, and the year Grandad set fire to the pudding.
Ideas for a Christmas book
- A Christmas story starring your child. Christmas Eve in your actual house, with the cat who knocks the baubles off the tree and a reindeer who gets lost on the way to your street.
- A family Christmas recipe book. The stuffing, the trifle, Nan’s mince pies and the bread sauce only one person makes properly, written down in their words.
- Grandparents’ Christmas memories. What they found in their stocking in 1958, and who carved the turkey.
- A year-in-review book. One chapter per month with the photos from your phone, for families who write a round-robin letter anyway.
How to write it with ChatGPT
Give ChatGPT the real details and ask for short pages. For a children’s story:
“Write a Christmas Eve story for Alfie, who is five and lives in Leicester. Our cat Biscuit keeps knocking the baubles off the tree, and a young reindeer gets lost on the way to our street. Twelve short pages, two or three sentences each, ending with Alfie asleep before Father Christmas arrives.”
Read it aloud once and change anything that doesn’t sound like your family.
For recipes or memories, ask ChatGPT to interview the cook or the grandparent one question at a time and to keep their words. Then add “Write it using only what she told me. Don’t add anything.” That stops it inventing a snowy childhood in a town where it hardly ever snowed.
Adding pictures
For a story, ask ChatGPT for one picture per page in the same style, and describe the main character the same way every time (“a boy in a red bobble hat and a green jumper”) so he looks like the same child throughout. Square pictures fit the page best.
Recipe and year-in-review books usually work better with real photos. Upload them in our editor beside the page they belong to. Old prints scanned at 600 dpi stay sharp across the full width of the page.
Giving it as a present
You don’t need to post it twice. Put the grandparents’ address in at checkout and Lulu prints the book close to where it’s going, so a UK order is printed in the UK and goes straight to their door. A dedication such as “For Nana and Grandad, Christmas 2026” doubles as the card.
If you want copies for yourself or the aunts, extra copies of the same book to the same address are £25 each in hardback or £19 in paperback. Order the spares to your house and hand them out on Christmas Day. A personalised book for grandparents is one of the few presents they’ll take off the shelf again next December.
Will it arrive in time for Christmas?
Yes, if you order by 3 December for standard delivery or by 12 December with express. Printing and standard delivery take 7–12 working days, and working days leave out weekends and bank holidays. We print every book to order, so nothing sells out.
Couriers get busier in December, so order a few days early if you can. Miss both dates and the book still arrives, just after Christmas.
Ordering
Ask Inkbind for the book in the same ChatGPT conversation, or paste the text on our start page. Books start at 32 pages, and you check every page in the preview before ordering. You pay by card through Stripe on our site. If a copy arrives damaged, send us a photo within 30 days of delivery and we’ll reprint it free. We delete the files 90 days after delivery, so keep your own copy of the text in case you want another next year.
